Waste less time wondering what to have for breakfast (Recipe)

Ever wanted more time in bed? Ever spent way too much time wondering what to have for breakfast? I used to ...

Apparently breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and I know that it's important for me because it helps me to stop feeling hungry and gives me energy for the morning. The time I spend having breakfast is important too, because I get to sit quietly out on my back deck, looking out over my beautiful fruit trees and enjoying the visits from lizards, birds and butterflies.

I recently gave a mini Wellbeing Workshop for a not-for-profit organisation, and I mentioned my breakfast pots as part of the meditation. I know, making you think about food when you're trying to relax!

The lovely local organiser asked me for the recipe, so here it is! I mix up the dry ingredients and pop a lid on them, to store some in the pantry. A few have milk added and those are stored in the fridge to keep them fresh and so they're nice and cool for the morning.

Did you know that oats are a bit of a super-food? And - for those suffering interrupted sleep, they are great before bedtime (oat-milk is great too). Just think, you could be like a hobbit and have second breakfast!

These are yummy cold, even in winter. There's something really refreshing about them. I like my breakfast pot with a long black coffee (with a dash of cold milk in it; I love crema!!!).

If you don't like to have breakfast because you feel sick in the mornings ... why not have breakfast a little later in the day? Then you won't miss out!!


Breakfast pot ingredients - 1/3 cup oats (rolled are best, but quick-oats will do), 1/2 teaspoon each of - raw sugar, linseeds, pumpkin/sunflower seeds, and about 1/2 cup of milk (to your taste).

If you want to make a stack of pots in advance, just mix the dry ingredients and pop an air-tight lid on. Add milk 1-3 days before the day you want them, and refrigerate.

If you have problems with sensitive teeth, try milling the dry ingredients in a blender, or warming up your breakfast pot before eating.
